ABOUT MY WORK

I am a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor with a passion for understanding our unconscious processes: how we form our sense of self, our way of being in the world and how we relate to others.

Everyone has a unique internal experience in response to life events and at times we are unable to find the words to express our way of being or what it is like to walk in our shoes without feeling confused, judged or misunderstood. This can make connecting with our experiences seem intolerable.

Research shows that mental health problems such as anxiety, depression and self-harming behaviour can manifest as a result of unconscious survival processes and adapted behaviours that develop as a way of repressing, managing and tolerating difficult or traumatic relationships and events.

The foundation of our work together is about building a collaborative working relationship and environment. By opening a dialogue you can explore to find your own narrative, connecting with your own mind and body in a way which allows you to understand and find meaning around your experience, ultimately allowing you to move forward in a way which feels autonomous to you.

Transactional Analysis is the theory underpinning my work, allowing me to support you with understanding what may be causing you to feel stuck, anxious, depressed, struggling with relationships, disconnected or unable to realise your full potential. In therapy we aim to open awareness around how your past and present experiences may be affecting you and your life here and now.

In my experience, it is the coming together of two minds which helps us to make sense of the messiness and confusion within, to find acceptance around our past and current experiences in a way which allows us to understand, relate differently and more healthily with ourselves, others and the wider world around us.
